(No) Future
(No) Future is a prototype for an interactive theater installation made for the Minor Interactive Narrative Design at HKU. The theater experience was conceptualized in collaboration with three fellow students with differing backgrounds in media and design.
The experience immerses you in a version of the future where a new generation of virtual reality has taken over the lives of people. You arrive at a filthy apartment as part of your freelance job at a company called MetaCare. MetaCare is a care service for people who are deeply trapped in a new and better version of reality and have difficulty resuming their lives in the real world. Your job is to make the space livable again to help reintegrate the ones wealthy enough to afford the service.
While cleaning the apartment you meet POD, a sentient home assistant system with a temper. By interacting with POD and your surroundings you’ll learn about the owner of the apartment, his story, and his role in this dystopian world. Who is this man, and why won’t he talk?
